MSCI indices are widely used as benchmarks by numerous investment funds, especially passive ETFs and index funds. Inclusion in the index provides companies with greater international recognition and prestige, access to a broad base of global investors, and potentially higher liquidity. Being added to the index means that a company’s shares are automatically included in the portfolios of funds tracking that index, which may result in increased institutional investor interest and the inflow of new investment capital.
